Robert Lucander

Born 1962 in Helsinki, lives in Berlin.

Robert Lucander uses industrial gloss paint in his works. Because of their shiny, coloured surfaces it feels as though the pictures were covered by a film, the theme of the picture is out of our reach. Lucander thus comes close to a Surrealist style of depiction. The individual brushstrokes are indistinguishable; in its own special way, the opaqueness of the masses of colour reinforces the impression of a picture that has come about of itself.
